It's a dumb complaint, I know, but some of these Pokemon are already naturally daunting, why not play to those features rather than making it all about these glowing balls? Lol. He's a water Pokemon, what happened to just spewing it from his mouth? In one of the episodes I saw Serena stumbled onto a Vespiqueen that summoned like five or six glowing balls of golden energy. I don't know if it's just a Froakie-exclusive thing, but to use water pulse he simply "conjures" a ball of glowing water and throws it. Why would a flying type need glowing wings to use gust? It's just an odd random detail I don't understand.Īnd to add to what I mentioned earlier - a lot of moves suddenly involve throwing glowing balls of elemental energy. I don't know how long that's been a thing, but I don't remember it watching the anime back when I was a kid (seasons 1-2 as they aired on tv). But every time a flying type uses gust their wings suddenly glow. I love when Froakie uses his bubble cloak and throws globs at enemies to slow them down - it seems natural (I'm only on episode 6 of XY, forgive me lol). My only complaint about the animation now is some of the moves look weird, or at least too supernatural for my taste.
